my first birthday - masonic, that is.

It’s been a year to the day since I was initiated and made a Mason—something that I consider one of the best things I have ever chosen to do in life.

Since that night a year ago, I have met and made connections with other Brothers around the globe and established friendships that I know will last a lifetime.  I have become part of a very vibrant, energetic Blue Lodge where we are seeing membership grow instead of decline.  I’ve rediscovered the joy of reading [when I have the time to do so], have started to feel more comfortable speaking in front of a large group of people, and of course—I have re-learned how to memorize things in a serious capacity.

So here’s to year one.  A year that is so much more than I ever could have expected—a personally energizing one—and the first of what I hope will be many, many more Masonic birthdays to come.
